Double chocolate and banana donuts

Got a craving for chocolate? Make some double chocolate and banana donuts. You will not regret it! You will also feel less guilty after eating them because they are baked not fried.

Best eaten when fresh!

Ingredients – for the dough

250g plain flour

1 ½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

85g granulated sugar

2 tbsp melted unsalted butter

2 eggs

240g buttermilk

3 tbsp cacao powder

50g dark chocolate – chopped

Method

1.Preheat the oven to 180˚C.

2.In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cacao, chocolate and soda.

3.In a separate bowl combine melted butter, eggs and buttermilk.

4.Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and beat until combined.

5.Lightly grease the doughnut tray and fill each mould with the mixture- bake for 15 mins.

6.Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool down.

Ingredients – for the chocolate glaze

2tbsp melted butter

70ml milk

2 tbsp cacao powder

50g chocolate – chopped

30g icing sugar

Method 

1.In a small saucepan melt the butter, then add the cacao, chocolate and milk. Stir constantly until it thickens. Remove from the heat and add icing sugar.

2.Once it’s combined dip the tops of the donuts into the chocolate and garnish with nuts or honeycomb.
